This is the first time ever I've been tagged, let's hope I don't get tagged again... Tagged by Vio1218

Rules:
1. You must post the rules.
2. Each person must post 6 things about themselves in their journal.
3. You have to choose 11 people to tag and post their icons on your journal.
4. Go to their page and tell them you have tagged them.
5. No tag backs.
6. No stuff in the tagging section about "you're tagged if you're reading this". You legitimately have to tag 11 people.

Can I add one more?
7. If people don't want to do it, just say so and you don't have to?

Fun facts about me:

1. I like foxes.
2. I game on PS3 and PS Vita, not much of a fan of PC gaming.
3. I've grown fond of doing 3D sculpting recently. Love creating trees! :D
4. I don't like going to theme parks.
5. I can play horror games, but I can't watch horror films (it's the realism of film that scares me).
6. I would rather be cold and warm up, than be hot and cool down. Winter is my favourite season!

Unfortunately I have to go and bother 11 people who probably, most likely, don't want to be tagged or have anything to do with it. So here are the poor souls who's days I've ruined by tagging them :/ Really though, does it have to be 11 people?! Nuh...

Couldn't bring myself to do it to 11 people... Tagging... WTF is this stuff anyway?

***AN UPDATE!***

I've recently finished up working on the game 'InFlux' with indie game developers, Impromptu Games, down here in Melbourne.

Featured throughout InFlux are some of my 3D environmental asset work, all of which is featured on my tumblr site here.

I learned a lot from this experience; new workflows for asset creation, sculpting and texturing, as well as how to work efficiently and in a timely manner while being under pressure.

While there were some things that personally went wrong on my part, I found the whole experience of working on a game as a challenge. It was a perfect opportunity for me to learn new skills and drastically improve my current abilities as an artist.

I'll be uploading renders of the assets I created to deviant Art shortly.
Please help spread the word about InFlux on Steam Greenlight here.

In recent weeks, I've decided to release the construction site assets I made earlier this year for free on the Unity Store. I've also uploaded the Unity package to deviant Art, for people who aren't familiar with downloading it from the Unity Store itself.

Although I haven't uploaded much work to deviant Art as of late, I do intend to begin uploading work in the coming weeks.

That's all for now.

*UPDATE 22/06/12* - I've uploaded renders of assets I've been working on for Impromptu Games on my tumblr page, check them out here > drspaceman4.tumblr.com/post/25… , drspaceman4.tumblr.com/post/25… , drspaceman4.tumblr.com/post/25… , drspaceman4.tumblr.com/post/25… .
More coming soon™

Hello,

It's been a while since I updated my journal and I thought I'd update everyone on where things are at. Those that are anticipating my texturing tutorial will know that last time, I was eager to share my workflow for texturing. Since then, I managed finish a long ass first draft of it. However I'm finding it super difficult to actually progress with it, as I'll never be happy with my writing, and I'm having problems with elements like structuring and talking about key points.

I'd be happy if people offered to help me with it as I feel like I'm letting you guys down by not getting it out there. Sad panda :(

Besides this I've been pretty busy working on 3D stuff, and have been lucky enough to land a freelance position as a prop / environment artist at an indie game developer here in Melbourne. So I'll be keeping busy with that in the meantime.

Feel free to check out my tumblr page as I update that more than Deviant Art. drspaceman4.tumblr.com

That's it for now,

Alex

*UPDATE 05/05/12* - Uploaded Construction Site Pack 3D models to Unity store > u3d.as/content/alex-mc-donnell…
Texturing tutorial still to come ^^

Hello,

I'm currently writing an in-depth tutorial on texturing 3D models, and will be uploading it to dA in the coming weeks. First it will be a written tutorial separated into parts consisting of the basics and going through my workflow - talking about how I create really detailed textures. Then later on I hope to create a video version of it.

Besides this, I'm also finishing up work on some assets which I will be putting onto the Unity Store soon. You can check them out on my tumblr page here > drspaceman4.tumblr.com/post/21…

That is all for now.
Take care,

Alex

I should've updated this journal ages ago, since I hardly upload my work to dA anymore.
Only completed work get's uploaded here, so all works in progress and other things are on my tumblr page.

Instead you should follow me on tumblr now, as I use that more frequently to upload my work to. It's just a lot easier and more convenient than dA :)

Anyway here's the link to my tumblr page > drspaceman4.tumblr.com/

Hope you enjoy, take care peeps! :)

Over the past month or so I've been really busy, so deviations are slowly trickling out but I'm getting there :P

I'm currently working on an old apartment environment which I hope to get completed in the coming weeks.

Just a few days ago I released a *ported* version of my Little Big Planet 2 theme for PSP (PlayStation Portable), and I think it went really well apart from the constant backing and forwarding between Fireworks and the PSP theme creator, and the theme creator itself. If anyone is attempting creating their own theme, I would strongly recommend visiting this > xeno-striker.deviantart.com/ar… , as well as downloading the PNG for PTF converter. It cut my work down when converting the PNG's to suitable 8 bit files so the theme creator was happy. So many times I would think I've got the right file and BAM it tells you its wrong >:(

My handy tips for PSP themers:

- Use Fireworks, make sure you select PNG, 8bit and 256 colours with Alpha transparency when exporting
- Before exporting the icons, make sure the transparency (opacity) is set to 95% or lower, otherwise it will end up with wierd graphical glitching (yes 99% didn't work for me)
- Download PNGforPTF conversion tool, convert exported icons (you can group select which is handy)
- If in doubt look at > xeno-striker.deviantart.com/ar…

Like I promised I also uploaded my two Vue environments, the Desert and the Sunset, as well as the Desert Drake costume for my StupidFox plushie.

I'm currently planning out how to start commission work (3D modelling) on Deviant art and will update soon. If anyone has any useful information or tips about commission work, please feel free to note me about it or comment below.

Hope everyone is well :)
